# What is Fangible?

TLDR; Fangible is a platform where you can create, buy, sell, and manage your NFTs. You need a wallet to store NFTs and interact with the platform and Fangible never takes possession of your assets.

Fangible is an experience-driven NFT platform that brings together creators and fans through storytelling. Digital artists can create and sell their tokenized artworks while Users can participate in buying, selling and showcasing exclusive NFTs from their favorite artists, athletes, and influencers. In the future, both creators and fans will be able to engage on a different level.

Focused on simplifying the journey for the artists, Fangible removes the entry barriers and limitations associated with high transaction fees on Ethereum-based NFT platforms. The marketplace enables artists to create their own brand pages where they can showcase and sell their artworks to the community.

**How is Fangible different from other NFT platforms?**

We're just cooler to be honest 😎

# Before we begin...

Here's a list of key terms used in the Fangible and NFT space and it's a helpful to review before you get started:

**Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)** – Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are unique, digital items with blockchain-managed ownership. Examples of NFTs include digital art, collectibles, virtual reality items, crypto domain names, ownership records for physical assets, and more.

**Gas fees** – Think of gas fees as Binance Smart Chain transaction costs. Fangible has no say in setting gas fees – they are determined by supply/demand across the network (blockchain).

**Crypto wallet** – A crypto wallet is an application or hardware device that allows individuals to store and retrieve digital assets.

**Wallet address** – Your wallet address is unique. It’s the address people will use when they are sending crypto or NFTs to your crypto wallet.

**Seed phrase** – Your seed phrase is a list of words that can be used to recover your crypto should you forget your password or lose access to your wallet. When you first begin trading with your wallet, find your seed phrase and back it up somewhere safe, in multiple locations if possible. Don’t store your seed phrase on an online cloud storage service and never share it with anyone.

**Brands**– A brands is a body of work, like a store or gallery. Right now in Fangible you can only create one brands and decide on the standard of the brands. When you add an item under the brands, the standard of the item can only be the same as the brands.

# Blockchain Fundamentals

**What is a blockchain & how does it work? Why blockchain at all?**

A blockchain is a database system of recording information that makes it difficult or nearly impossible to change, hack, or cheat. It’s essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across an entire network of computer systems or what is called “nodes”.

Blockchain is widely used due to two main reasons, blockchains are decentralized - this means there are no 3rd parties involved in approving your transactions on the chain, this also means blockchain is immutable (Tamper Proof) as they rely on all parties in the network agreeing on the blockchain (This is known as consensus).

Blockchain is highly secured due to its use of cryptographic keys and signatures - this prevents fraud such as other users pretending to be you as they would not be able to replicate your private keys.

**What makes NFTs different from other digital assets like Bitcoin or Ethereum?**

BTC and ETH are examples of fungible goods. They are interchangeable in the sense that each ETH is identical to another ETH, and can be used for practical purposes (buying, selling and borrowing). For example, if someone borrowed one ETH from you, they can pay you back with any other ETH. However, if they borrowed a specific tokenized piece of art from you, they would have to return that exact same piece of art back to you (as opposed to any other piece of art) — just imagine how ridiculous it would be to swap Mona Lisa with some random doodle.

**What is a Wallet?**

Blockchain wallet is a digital wallet that enables you to hold different cryptocurrencies, such as ETH and BNB. To mint, sell or buy NFTs on Fangible, you will need to connect your wallet and make sure you have a small amount of ETH or BNB ready.

**What is a Web Wallet? Metamask?**

A Web Wallet is a web extension wallet that allows you to manage your private keys via your web browser. You can store, send, and receive funds like any other cryptocurrency wallet. An example of a Web Wallet is Metamask, which can be used to interact with various blockchains such as Ethereum and Binance Smartchain. It allows users to access their wallet through a browser extension or mobile app, which can then be used to interact with decentralized applications.

**What is Ethereum?**

Ethereum is a blockchain platform that enables people to build decentralized applications (dApps). It is currently the most widely used platform for NFTs.

**What's the difference between the ERC-721 or ERC-1155 standards?**

**ERC-721** was the first standardized interface for creating NFTs. It is immutable, transparent in ownership and security, and the most widely used. It will always be the gold standard of a valuable collectible NFT. Although transferable, trying to transfer an entire collection can be slow and inefficient, especially when gas fees are high. ERC-721 also requires a new smart contract to be deployed for each new type of token. Therefore, when you need to mint NFTs in masses, it doesn't make much sense to use this contract.\
\
**ERC-1155** is a dual purpose fungible and non fungible token. It was developed by Enjin, to tokenize things like common gaming skins and other commoditized items. It’s faster and more efficient to use in batch token transfers and is considered “the next generation multi-token standard,” as it can be deployed in a single smart contract for an infinite number of token types. The only real draw-back is that the NFT is harder to track in terms of ownership—to save data stored on blockchain ERC-1155 has specifications on the Ethereum logs that have less robust information.

**What is Binance Smart Chain (BSC)?**

According to Binance, Binance Smart Chain is “a dual-chain architecture that empowers its users to build their decentralized apps and digital assets on one blockchain and take advantage of the fast trading to exchange on the other.” BSC is rapidly gaining traction in the NFT space for its high speed and low transaction costs.

# An Introduction to NFTs

**First things first, what (the hell) is an NFT?**

NFT (which is short for Non-Fungible Token) is an on-chain digital asset that represents ownership of a unique item, such as a piece of art, in-game item, music albums, domain names and so much more! They have distinctive identifying information and are generally encoded with the same underlying software as cryptos.

NFT's contain built-in authentication which serves as proof of ownership.

**How can I really own something digital, e.g. an artwork?**

Think about it like this, you own a physical piece of art, you know that it’s yours, because it's physically there hanging on a wall in your living area. But how do you know that something digital belongs to you?

Until recently, there was no effective instrument to track ownership of original digital items. It limited the possible ways for artists to monetize their digital creations to selling their physical copies, merchandise, or taking commissions. Now, it's possible with NFTs.

When you create an NFT, your item becomes inseparable from a "token". Essentially, you create an authenticity record, a proof of ownership, making it impossible to fake. It now exists in a secure shared database: blockchain.

This record comes with a set of metadata: name, image, description, and more, created once and securely stored on the blockchain. It also refers to the current owner of the piece.

**Can’t you just screenshot an NFT and own it that way? Why are they worth so much?**

Good point, and it depends on how you view NFTs. If you’re looking at it from a purely functional perspective, you’re not wrong because you can screenshot an NFT artwork and store it on your desktop.

However, there are several things you can’t do with just a screenshot. NFTs provide you with the ability to prove its ownership and scarcity, which are two factors in determining the monetary value of an NFT. If you’re hoping to trade it for profits in the future, a mere screenshot will not be able to help you unlock that layer of value.

Beyond that, some NFTs themselves have functional purposes. Many different types of value can be baked into the NFT token itself. For example, if your NFT also happens to be a playable avatar, you’ll be able to use it to navigate its native ecosystem which again, you cannot do with a screenshot. This provides you with both an enjoyable gaming experience and the ability to potentially earn profits from the ecosystem itself.

**Characteristics of NFT's**

NFTs have several characteristics that make them unique. Some of these are:

* NFTs are non-interoperable - This means that one NFT cannot be used in place of another NFT. This is because each NFT is unique, with its own set of characteristics and information.
* Verifiable - All data related to NFTs are stored on the blockchain, making them easy to trace across owners. This allows NFTs to be authenticated easily.

Indestructible - NFTs are indestructible because they run on blockchain technology and utilize smart contracts. The blockchain’s inherent transparency and immutability ensures that NFTs cannot be destroyed or duplicated.

**What kinds of NFTs are out there?**

NFTs have already seen a variety of use cases. The most widespread ones currently include digital art and in-game assets. Music, multimedia, domains, Defi applications (e.g. insurances) are also starting to get traction.

**Is there any proof from the big players? Who has already issued NFTs?**

Even though NFTs are a creation of the blockchain world, their benefits are already being recognized by significant players across industries.

Celebrities like [Emily Ratajkowski](https://www.coindesk.com/videos/all-about-bitcoin-on-cdtv-clips/supermodel-emily-ratajkowski-sells-first-nft-to-reclaim-her-image) and [Jack Dorsey](https://www.coindesk.com/jack-dorsey-first-tweet-sells) auction various pieces off as NFTs.

You can read more about the big brands doing NFTs in the "How to make money on NFTs" section.

**I'm not familiar with blockchain. Will it be hard for me to start?**

There's nothing to be afraid of! Millions of people already use crypto, and you can easily join. The recent developments in the blockchain space make the user experience as easy and smooth as it can be. You will still need to get a wallet and buy some ETH to start — but we're offering a detailed guide on that here. Also, you can always find help in the Fangible community on Discord.

**Where do I keep my NFTs?**

All NFTs you create and buy live in your wallet. This is a home for your NFTs. It looks like (a very nice!) mobile app, a desktop app, or a browser extension. You also use this wallet for connecting to a marketplace, confirming transactions, putting something on and off sale, sending NFTs to someone. It is done in a couple of clicks. We offer a detailed guide on choosing your wallet, creating it, and topping it up in this guide.

**Where do I buy and sell NFTs?**

It depends on the type of NFT you’re looking for. NFTs can be bought and sold on marketplaces like Fangible (you've come to the right place!).

NFTs can also be obtained within their respective project ecosystems, by directly purchasing them with the projects native token.

# How to Make Money on NFTs

**Is it possible to make money on NFTs?**

No question - YES! In fact, if you’re new to this space, you might be surprised to learn how much money a single NFT can cost.

In December 2020, the total trading volume of NFT artwork alone hit [an all-time high](https://www.coindesk.com/nft-art-sales-reached-all-time-high-of-8-2m-in-december) of $8.2 million — so while the industry itself is still relatively new, there’s already loads of money invested

**What kinds of NFTs are most popular?**

Remember that an NFT can take many different forms: it can be an image, a GIF, a video, an in-game item or even audio. Currently, the most prominent industries in the NFT world are in art and blockchain gaming with more and more use-cases coming about everyday. For instance, it’s even possible to tokenize real-world assets like real estate — and why wouldn't NFTs eventually become an acceptable form of proof that you own a certain piece of land, given that it's technically impossible to forge them?

**Why would anyone buy an NFT? What makes an NFT more expensive than others?**

Collectability is a huge part of human psychology: people like to collect things they enjoy, and most importantly, to own them.

NFTs derive their value from scarcity, along with existing market valuations. Generally, the rarer a particular NFT is, the higher the value it might be traded for in an open marketplace. Remember when CryptoKitties was a thing? The rarer your avatar was, the more money you could get from it.

Other factors are often also thrown into the mix, like the reputation of the artist and the various functions their NFT might serve. Think of it as traditional art valuation, which might seem odd to outsiders.

**Do I have to be an artist to make money in this industry?**

No! The beauty of the NFT market is that anyone could stand to benefit from it. From artists and developers to art collectors, traders, and even gamers – there are plenty of opportunities for everyone.

In other words, if you’re not too confident about your drawing/creative skills (which you really shouldn’t be), you can always analyze the market and see some flipping opportunities. Alternatively, if you’re into blockchain games, you can sell a rare item that you farmed — in other words, the NFT industry is much more than just crypto artwork.

**Are brands doing something with the NFT world?**

Yes, they’re getting in — which is also a major sign that the industry is growing by leaps and bounds. Corporations and organizations as big as NBA, Nike, Formula 1, Samsung, and Vodafone have all been involved in NFT-related product development or registered NFT-related patents.

Perhaps the most evident example of an NFT product backed by a popular organization would be NBA Top Shot, an officially licensed crypto-collectibles game developed by the team behind CryptoKitties. It allows users to collect and own digital “moments” of different scarcity, which are essentially highlights from real NBA games — for instance, [the most valuable highlight](https://thehustle.co/nba-top-shot-most-valuable-highlight/) ($7,300) is currently a dunk performed by Lakers’ forward LeBron James. Users have spent a total of $5 million on the platform, making it the world’s most successful sports blockchain product.

### **When are Gas Fees charged?**

#### **First-Time Sellers**

If this is your first listing with Fangible, sellers must pay 2 transaction gas fees to set up their account. This is a one time fee that you will not pay again in the future.

#### **Creators**

Creating an NFT in Fangible costs Gas fees.

#### **Selling & Buying**

There are gas fees when the item is sold and who pays the fees, depending on transaction:

* Buyers pay the gas fees when purchasing fixed-price items.
* The last bidder pay the gas when accepting offers in the English Auction.

### **Why is the transaction confirmation time taking so long?**

As demand increases, processing times take longer as well. If you are experiencing delays, you can visit <https://bscscan.com/chart/gasprice> to find out details about your transaction, including an estimate on when it should be confirmed. Do not worry though – it will eventually complete.

### **Where can I check my NFT providence and validity?**

One of the unique benefits of NFTs is the ability to track every transaction on the Binance Smart Chain. Every NFT has an owner, creator, history, and this information is verifiable.

On each item page there is a section marked Chain Info where you can verify details about the contract used to create it:

# Claiming NFTs

In some circumstances, you will need to manually claim the transaction assets that you are entitled to, rather than them being automatically distributed.\
\
Sellers can view the item status of the transaction in **My Gallery** and click the details to find the entry of the claim. However, the buyer lacks this entry and only has the transaction record. Therefore, we set a unified entry in the Marketplace.

In **My Market**, both the buyer and the seller can find the item record of the transaction and claim the operation.

# Getting Started on Fangible

## **Essential things you need before interacting with Fangible**

1. **MetaMask Wallet** (Download [MetaMask](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/metamask/nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn) in Chrome Web Store). MetaMask stores your BNB and processes transactions on the blockchain. A unique wallet address will be generated and you will use this address to complete transactions. All transactions connected to your wallet address can be found on bscscan.com and it's a good idea to check this after completing each transaction. You may ask why you need a wallet before buying and selling on Fangible? Fangible never takes possession of your assets or stores your NFTs. Instead, we provide a system for peer to peer exchanges. Since you will be using Fangible to interact directly with others on the blockchain, you will need a wallet to help you turn your actions in the browser into transactions on the blockchain.
2. **A small amount of BNB for BSC, and ETH for Ethereum**. (You can purchase them through centralized exchanges, including Binance and Huobi, and withdraw tokens from an exchange to MetaMask; Or you can also ask your friend to transfer!)
3. **A Fangible Account.**

Feel free to reference the full user guide on how to set up MetaMask for [BSC](https://academy.binance.com/en/articles/connecting-metamask-to-binance-smart-chain) and [HECO](https://polynetwork.gitbook.io/docs/creating-heco-wallet-in-metamask), as well as depositing BNB and HT to MetaMask as Gas fee.
